Can I add people to my courses?

Faculty can add other folks to their courses that have not been concluded by using the other person’s EMPLID (ctcLink number) in the +People link.  If the course is concluded, the eLearning staff can add folks to the course.

You can add folks as:

  • Designers (full course content creation/edition access, no student interaction)
  • TAs (most of the course content access, full student interaction)
  • Observers (the equivalent of the parent of the 5th grader—just viewing the content)
  • Teachers (full course content creation/edition access, full student interaction—NOTE:  Not suggested if the course is a live course because 3rd party software like EvaluationKIT, Pearson, etc., key off the Canvas user role and usually the two roles in particular are Teacher and Student.  So, if you don’t want someone to be evaluated at the end of the quarter but do want them to have full course and student access, make them both a TA and a Designer.)

Only the eLearning staff can add folks to a class as a Student role for FERPA reasons.  We are happy to do so at your request.
