How do I create a quiz using New Quizzes?

Here are the steps on how to create a quiz using New Quizzes:

  • Click on the quizzes link
  • You can also access quizzes from the Assignments page
  • Click the +Quiz (Add Quiz) button
  • Select New Quizzes from the Choose a Quiz menu
  • You can check the Remember my choice option if this is what you want to use from this point on
  • Click the Submit Button
  • Enter the name of the quiz in the assignment name field
  • Enter the points value
  • Select the assignment group
  • Choose how you wants the grade to be displayed as
  • You can check the box to not count it against the final grade if applicable
  • If necessary select or adjust who the quiz is assigned to in the assign to box
  • Enter the due date for the quiz
  • Enter dates for when the quiz first opens in the available from box, and when you want the quiz to lock in the until box
  • Enter save to save the quiz
  • To make it visible click save and publish
  • Click the Build button to begin adding questions and content
  • On the build page you can edit the title and description
  • You can view the item banks of questions
  • You can also align the quiz itself to outcomes
  • You can preview the quiz from the student view
  • You can also navigate the quiz
  • you will use the Rich Content Editor to format the quiz instructions
  • To add to the quiz click the +Add button
  • To insert content from the item bank click the Item bank button
  • To make a new question click the button for the type of question
  • or you can add stimulus content
  • These are the different types of questions:
  • For each type of question you can put a title, a stem, and answers
  • There are options specific to some of the question types
  • You can align questions to outcomes
  • You can also add a question to an item bank
  • Enter the point value in the points field
  • To add specifically general feedback for students, you can click on the feedback icon and enter that in
  • To save your question make sure to click done
  • Essay questions dont include an answer field and you must grade these question types manually
  • Click delete to delete a question
  • To open the Question Navigator click the expand icon on the left hand side
  • The question navigator shows the question number, the question type, the point total, the question stem, and the total points for the question
  • To view a question click on the question stem
  • You can click and hold the move icon to manually reorder the question
  • Click the return button to the return to the quizzes main page
