Follow these instructions to create question banks from your existing quizzes in an original course:
- Created a master shell course and called it [your name] Question Banks. You can use this in the future, too, for other test. It’s all yours!
- Open the original course that has the quizzes but no question banks—e.g., CU 108 - 9999 – SU19 – Outlook.
- Open Settings > Course Details > Export Course Contents > select Quiz > select some or all of the quizzes you want to export > click on Create Export.
- You will get an email that includes a link to a .ZIP file—when it arrives, download the file to your desktop or other storage location for easy access.
- Open the master shell course Settings > Course Details > Import Course Contents > under Content Type, select QTI .zip file.
- Under Source > Choose File > select the .ZIP file you stored in item 4 above.
- Do nothing under Default Question bank.
- Under Options, put a check mark in the Overwrite assessment content with matching IDs box.
- Click on Import and wait for the import to complete.
- Go to Quizzes and select the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and click on Manage Question Banks.
- Because you did this process in the master shell, now you can import the question banks to your original course:
- Open the original course Settings > Course Details > Import Course Contents > under Content Type, select Copy a Canvas Course.
- Under Search for a course, select the master shell course.
- Under Content, mark the Select specific content.
- Click on Import.
- At the Current Jobs list, to the right of the course you are importing from, click Select Content.
- Click on the arrow to the left of Question Banks and choose any or all of the question banks.
- Click on Select Content and wait for the import to complete.
- Go to Quizzes and select the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and click on Manage Question Banks.
- Go to Quizzes and create quizzes by pulling from question banks!
