How do I change the formatting of headings in Word?

Body

The default in Word for each heading can be changed and it can be done a couple of ways with this suggestion being our favorite:

  1. Set the text content for Heading 2, highlight it and set it as Heading 1 from the headings style gallery, then reformat that whole heading line  to your desired format, for example:  Times New Roman Centered Black ink, and Bold.
  2. You will, later when you create another Heading 1 type of heading, type in the text, go up to the first Heading 1, copy and do a format paste of the first one you created to the 2nd one you type in.
  3. Do this for your other headings (Headings 2, 3, 4, etc.):  type your text content for Heading 2, set it from the headings style gallery, then reformat that whole line to your times New Roman, left justify, bold (or whatever).
  4. When you create another Heading 2 type of heading, type in the text, go up to the first Heading 2, copy and do a format paste of the first Heading 2 you created.
