There is a turnstyle with a variety of user guides for the equipment in the Commons. There is a laminated copy of this step-by-step guide for use of the scanners.
There are two types of scanners, the ScanSnap Scanners on the Windows PCs or the Canon Scanners on the iMacs.
ScanSnap Scanner Instructions
From the Start menu choose ScanSnap
Choose ScanSnap Home
Place your document in the scanner upside down (*front facing away)
Click Scan
Click Scan
If the document is two sided click on the middle auto button
Click duplex
Click Scan
Click File. Click Save the Image
On the left click Desktop
Click the Select Folder button
To email your scan, open an Internet browser, create an email, then attach the scanned document
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR DOCUMENT FROM THE SCANNER.
Canon Scanner Instructions (*For MAC)
From launchpad choose Canon Utilities (other)
Choose Canon IJ Scan Utility 2
Place your document face down in the scanner with the top of the document pointed towards you.
Choose Auto (*If it’s a document choose Document. If It’s a photo choose Photo)
If it’s a document with multiple pages, choose Scan to scan the additional pages. If you are all done scanning, click Exit.
If you chose Auto, this menu will appear. Choose OK
Your scan will appear in the Pictures folder. Click and drag your scan to the desktop for easier access
To email your scan, open an Internet Browser (EX: Chrome, Firefox)
Sign into your email (Ex: TCC Email, Gmail)
Create your email and attach the scanned document from your desktop
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REMOVE YOUR DOCUMENT FROM THE SCANNER.
