Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. SI is provided for all students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades.

1. Participation is voluntary, free, and open to all students.
2. SI can help students develop essential academic and learning skills in their courses.
3. SI sessions begin during the first or second week of the quarter, before students encounter academic difficulties.
4. SI Leaders do not lecture. Instead, they direct collaborative learning exercises that encourage students to take responsibility for processing course content.
5. In schools across the world, SI students earn higher final course grades and withdraw less often than non-SI participants.

How can I become a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader?

• Qualified applicants to become a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, success in the class they are supporting, a strong recommendation from an instructor in the discipline they are supporting, and a desire to facilitate the learning of his or her fellow students.
• This is a paid position with a time commitment of 8-12 hours per week.
