How do I set up my voicemail on the new Mitel phones?

Initial Voicemail Setup:

1)    Your initial passcode will be 1234. You will be prompted to change it during the Tutorial.
2)    Be ready to record your name and greeting. Follow the Tutorial prompts carefully through the end to save all your settings.

Access to Voicemail:

From your extension:

  1. Press the Voicemail key or Dial 7000

Note: If your message key is flashing, you must lift the handset or press Call softkey

  1. Enter your passcode

From another phone with Voicemail: 

  1. Press the Voicemail key or Dial 7000
  2. When prompted for passcode, press * then your mailbox number then * again
  3. You will be prompted for your passcode

From a phone without Voicemail:

  1. Press the Voicemail key or Dial 7000
  2. When prompted, enter your mailbox number, then press *
  3. Enter your passcode
From an external number:
  1. Do one of the following:
    1. Dial 253-460-2001.  At the “Welcome to the Message Center” prompt, press * then your mailbox number, then * again
    2. Dial your Direct Line. During your greeting, press * 
  2. Enter your passcode

Main Menu:

  • #7 Play your messages
  • #6 Make a record and send a message
  • #8 User Options (Manage your mailbox)
  • #9 Exit your mailbox

Play messages #7:

Press 7 from Main Menu to Play Messages

After or during playback:

  • #7 Play message again
  • #2 Answer (Respond to the person who sent the message)
  • #4 Give (Forward the message to another mailbox)
  • #5 Keep (Save the message)
  • #3 Discard (Delete the message)
  • #8 Top of the next message (Skip to the next message)
  • #84 Time and Date stamp

While listening to messages:

  • #1 Pause (Pause the playback. Press any key to resume)
  • * Rewind (Back up 5 seconds)
  • # Fast Forward (Skip ahead 5 seconds)

Make/Send Messages #6:

  1. Press 6 from Main Menu to send a message
  2. Enter the destination mailbox
  3. Press # to end list and record your message
After recording your message:
  • #7 Review (Listen to what you just recorded)
  • #3 Discard (Replace the recorded message with a new one)
  • #2 Append (Add to your recorded message)
  • #6 Message Options: Confidential, Receipt, Urgent
  • #9 Exit and Send to the destination mailbox

User Options #8:

Press 8 from Main Menu to access User Options

  • #4 Greeting (Record your greeting) Note: Press 4 again for extended absence option
  • #6 Name (Record your name)
  • #7 Passcode (Change your passcode)
  • #5 Distribution List (Send a message to a list of mailboxes)
  • #9 Exit User Options menu

Transferring Calls Into Voicemail:

While connected to a call, press the Voicemail key

  • Enter the mailbox number to which you want to transfer
  • Hang up immediately

*If you do not hang up immediately, the caller will not hear all of the selected mailbox greeting
